Valacyclovir Tablets 500 mg, 1000 mg is an antiviral medicine (prodrug of acyclovir), supplied as tablets.
Uses: Herpes zoster (shingles), genital herpes and cold sores, with the convenience of less frequent dosing.
Age group: Adults (cold sores: adolescents 12 years and above).
Usual dose: Herpes zoster: 1000 mg three times daily for 7 days; first genital herpes: 500 mg twice daily for 5–10 days; cold sores: 2000 mg twice for one day, 12 hours apart.
