Metformin Hydrochloride Sustained Release Tablets 500 mg, 850 mg, 1000 mg is a biguanide antidiabetic, supplied as tablets.
Uses: Type 2 diabetes mellitus, to improve glycaemic control alongside diet and exercise, with sustained-release dosing.
Age group: Adults.
Usual dose: Start 500 mg once daily with the evening meal, increase by 500 mg weekly; maximum about 2000 mg per day (up to 2550 mg for some formulations).
